Dayton Street Shadows

This is from last year when a friend and I were out bird bombing the tree outside the Healthfood Store. It was one of the bright sunny days and a joy to be outside feeling the sun kiss our cheeks.

FENCE ART PROJECT IN YELLOW SPRINGS

YELLOW SPRINGS ARTS COUNCIL ANNOUNCES THE
FENCE ART GALLERY PROJECT
example from Ithaca New York construction site

While the new hotel is being built at the corner of Xenia Avenue and Limestone Street, the construction site will be hidden from view behind wooden panels which will be decorated with a temporary art gallery.  The panels will be in place from approximately May – September, creating a prime spot for visitors and villagers alike to appreciate art and take photos.
The Yellow Springs Arts Council has collected applications from over 25 artists interested in decorating the panels. Most of them plan to use paint, though there is also a wood carver, and artists planning to create 3D works using found objects, foil and paper.
Local businesses, organizations or individuals are invited to sponsor the panels for a unique, summer-long advertising opportunity. Sponsors will have their name clearly displayed on their panel. Sponsoring businesses can invite an artist of their choosing to create their panel, or YSAC will choose one from the artists who apply to be a part of the project. The sponsorship will support both the Arts Council and the artists, who will receive a stipend.
A limited number of openings remain for both artists and sponsors. Learn more at ysartscouncil.org or contact Holly Underwood at ysartscouncil@gmail.com or 679-YSAC.
The Arts Council is grateful to Jim Hammond, who is building the new hotel, for suggesting this project, and to the Yellow Springs Community Foundation for their support.

Fence Art Gallery Project: Call to Artists and Sponsors

Deadline Friday March 14th
While the new hotel is being built at the corner of Xenia Avenue and Limestone Street, the construction site will be hidden from view behind wooden panels which will be decorated with a temporary art gallery. This spring, a series of 42 panels will be installed above the chain link fence that currently circles the property and they will remain up through the fall.

We invite YOU to be a part of this exciting project!

Artists:  The Yellow Springs Arts Council is looking for artists to decorate these 4′ x 4′ panels. Participating artists will receive a stipend. This project is open to all artists. While it is ideally suited for painters, artists of all types are welcome to apply, as long as your finished work can be sealed against the weather and will remain affixed to a vertical surface. Learn more on the  Call to Artists then download an Artist Application and send it to us by Friday, March 14.

Businesses, Organizations and Individuals:  This is your chance to take part in a one-of-a-kind advertising opportunity that will support our vibrant arts community while providing additional visibility for your business or organization during the prime summer months. Sponsor a panel and have your name clearly displayed on it. You can invite an artist of your choosing to create your panel, or we will choose one from the artists who apply to be a part of the project. The cost of this summer-long advertising opportunity is just $100 per panel. To be a part of this exciting partnership, simply  complete this form and return it to us by Friday, March 14.

Flow: theme and variations
Flow: the mental state in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterized by complete absorption in what one does.

Showing in the month of March, Sandi Sharp expresses the concept of Flow through various colors and textures on one design. The inspiration of the design is music, specifically the piano. while the keyboard is represented, the rhythmic composition and shapes within the overall symbol also expresses other aspects that represent Flow.

Framed Prints on Canvaskin are $45 each
