Jumble "Jumps Off"

The Holiday Art Jumble Sale & Exhibit opens on December 15 (1-4pm) and continues through January 20 (Wednesday to Sunday, 1-4pm). You will find unique gifts at “can’t-resist” prices and you will be supporting the arts in Yellow Springs. YS is home to many collectors of art, and they have been generously donating their paintings, arty bits & bobs, handmade jewelry and fine crafts. We have received art from all over the world! Several really fabulous items will be silent auctioned each week and we will be regularly refreshing the exhibit, so check in often to see what is new.

“‘Tis the season of giving” or “‘Tis the season of shopping”? – the modern-day holiday conundrum. This season you can do both! Fill your heart with cheer as you shop for one-of-a-kind gifts at the YSAC Holiday Art Jumble. Scores of arts supporters have donated gently-used artsy items and antique collectibles. The walls and pedestals of the YSAC Gallery will be filled with out-of-the-closet art, hand-crafted whimsy, tiny collectibles and fabulous chotchkies!

The festivities begin on Saturday, December 15 with First Dibs Jumble shopping from 1-4pm. That evening, combine your holiday shopping with jubilant entertainment at YSAC’s Jumble Sale and Heartstrings Concert, which runs from 6-10pm and includes festive music, fundraising sale vouchers, a silent auction, cash wine bar and seasonal treats to round out the evening. Local favorites, Heartstrings, will perform from 7-8:30pm. This five-woman group (Mary Beth Burkholder, Sarah Goldstein, Dottie Palsgrove, Linda Scutt & Carol Van Ausdal) plays traditional music with a signature blend of acoustic instruments including fiddle, mandolin, banjo, concertina and hammered dulcimer; their repertoire draws predominantly from Celtic and Appalachian traditions, with tastes of Scandinavian, Italian and Klezmer music. A $5 performance donation is suggested in memory of past quintet member, Chris Hess.

6 Year Blog Anniversary

It's been 6 years since I started this blog and I thought it would be fun to show you the very first blog entry Dec 4th, 2006.

Yellow Springs Mural
Mural in Keith's Alley by Pierre Nagely
This is one of Pierre's recent murals that The Yellow Springs News highlighted August 31, 2006 . Keith's Alley is one of those places often overlooked by visitors, which is unfortunate as it has much to offer in the way of mural art.

*********

At the time I started the blog I was an active member of the Yellow Springs Arts Council and  there was no updated website/blogs or any online promotion of the arts in YS.
Oh, my! how things have changed in 6 years.

While this blog may no longer need to fill a gap in the promotion of the arts/artists in town, I still feel it has a place in sharing with the world what we have to offer.
Thank You to all those who subscribe to the blog, or visit. I appreciate your support.
Thank You to the Yellow Springs Arts Council and Brian Housh for keeping us all up to date on here.

Spotted Around Town

If you ever stop by Speedway on Xenia Ave and think you've seen the model's face in the ad  somewhere and can't quite figure out where, it's local artist Claire B.
Claire is currently showing her work at Main Squeeze, and one of her photographs was selected for the 2013 Glen Helen Calendar.

On my way home from biking this morning
I spotted this carved bear and
further down the road a funky way of displaying a house number.
Always fun biking around town.
